As an indie filmmaker and multi-disciplinary artist, "Capturing the essence of humanity through the lens, my films—celebrated with international awards—blend narrative depth and documentary truth. Each project is a journey into untold stories, crafted with passion and precision.Currently, I draw inspiration from the Hunza Valley's indigenous communities, exploring how money impacts their deeply rooted connection to nature. My work challenges traditional views of wealth, celebrating the enduring value systems at risk of vanishing alongside their sustainable traditions. With a background from NCA Lahore (BFTV Hon 2018, Art council Painting Diploma 2012), I create installations and hybrid films that illuminate these themes, striving to preserve and honor the richness of these threatened cultural landscapes.
There was no concept of watching films on the big screen in my hometown, Hunza valley. Circus Cinema aims to make one film yearly based on actual local stories and showcase it to the local community to engage people and promote storytelling. I am working on a web series, The Secrets of Karakorum. We are currently looking for funding for this project. It revolves around six different stories; its bigger picture is about the molestation of nature. Although, in recent years, I attended international programs like Berlinale Talents, Film Talents at Goethe Institut, and other international programs, which helped me represent stories from north Pakistan in international film festivals.
